The Halter Legacy Circle was created several years ago to honor Rev. Howard and Mrs. Florence Halter for their enduring legacy to Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School and to allow others to make a commitment to an enduring gift and thoughtfully provide for Village Lutheran Church & The Chapel School through their charitable estate planning. By doing so, they ensure that the blessings of well-prepared church and school leadership extends beyond their own lifetimes.
Eligibility for membership is established by designating Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School as the beneficiary of your estate, a gift annuity, a life insurance policy, a charitable trust, or other deferred gift arrangement.
There is an inherent tendency in many organizations to be fearful of speaking of estate planning and legacy gifts. However, as members of the Christian Church, we have a unique belief in the stewardship of body, mind and spirit in life that extends to eternity. In addition, we have been blessed at this church and school to have received several estate gifts from members, most recently Mrs. Dorothy S. Stengel, which proved to be a true God send and blessing to this ministry in the hour of need.
The reality is that our church and school will continue to need the support of our members and friends in the next decade and beyond. Legacy gifts can often represent major support and, through careful planning, can actually be a blessing to both the family of the loved one and to the church at the same time. How sad it is to see time and again, beloved members who put off planning and allowed their legacy to be both devoured by taxation, which could have been avoided, and be diminished by the lack of sound estate tools that reap benefits for family and church.
As you plan the legacy you leave behind, thank you for prayerfully considering membership in The Halter Legacy Circle.
